Bruzzano (Mi) – Via Pesaro

Urban planning and restoration program for the building cooperative Filca Case - 54.000 mc

2003

Three buildings of varying heights – 7 and 11 storeys - unfold from an existing blind gable and form a courtyard open to the south, following the line of two streets. This wide internal space extends into the public garden on the south (total 22,000 mc). The buildings overlooking the streets feature a portico and pilotis. The façades of the buildings feature indents and full volumes, in particular on the top floors. The windows are not repetitive but mark the rendered surfaces with different shapes and forms. The strongly contrasting colours (white and ochre/pink) highlight the alternating volumes. On the north/south axis, the two symmetrical tops of the buildings have steep pitched roofs. There is a 10m gap between the two buildings which divides the almost blind fronts and brings them together at the same time. The buildings have many energy efficiency features which places them in class A: thick cladding, heat recovery controlled mechanical ventilation, solar panels and highly insulating windows and doors (250 apartments)
